Abstract

Health promotion for an older person is essential to prevent Diabetes mellitus (DM) type 2. This study was a systematic review of research related to health promotion for older persons with DM type 2 conducted in 2012 2016. Search engines used were PubMed, Central, Science direct, and Thalis. Researchers also used hand searching for nonpublished work. Ten studies met the criteria for scores > 3 bases on Jadad’s criteria. The sample size range between 30 and 2,000. The focus of these studies was on improving systems and intervention to affect individuals’ behavior changes and decreased complications through control blood glucose levels, physical exercise, anxiety, and depression for older people with DM. The results showed that older people with DM mentioned fearing falls. Fear of falls was found among older females about rheumatoid with negative perception with the elasticity of muscle. Fear was a leading cause influencing the higher prevalence of DM among older people one epidemiology study revealed that fear was a complication of DM two of ten studies found that the patients with DM type 2 with ago 70 years and above who had self management tended to have the quality of life. However, these were increasing numbers of new and old cases of patients with DM in the hospitals. Health-promoting activities were undertaken base on concepts of multidisciplinary and case management. The activities mostly focused including proper food consumption, physical exercise, encouraging self
care, and medication management.
