Abstract

According to the report coverage of the nutritional program indicator of the District Health Office of Lima Puluh Kota in 2016, under-five children amounted to 38,285 and only 21,028 infants weighed or about 55% under-five children only. There are 1940 under-fives with less nutritional status and 271 under-five children with very little nutritional status. This study aims to determine the factors that affect the nutritional status of children under five years in Lima Puluh Kota 2017. This type of research is quantitative with a cross-sectional research design conducted in March-September 2017. The population in this study amounted to 6259 infants. While the sample is a toddler aged 12-59 months with the number of 128 infants. The analysis used is univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis. The results showed that factors related to the nutritional status of toddlers were maternal knowledge (p-value = 0,000) and a number of family members (p-value = 0,026). While the factor that is very influential is the mother's knowledge as evidenced by p-value = 0,000. The conclusion from the results of this study is a factor that greatly affects the nutritional status of children under five in Lima Puluh Kota 2017 is the knowledge of the mother. Therefore, it is expected that the mother of the under-five will pay more attention to the diet and the intake of food consumption in accordance with the nutritional needs of children. Increase participation to utilize posyandu as a health center and source of information as well as to monitor the weight of toddlers as one indicator to determine nutritional status.
